We can't forget long Covid. We have some tentative evidence that vaccination reduces long Covid numbers somewhat, but they are still very high. 1.2m reporting long Covid symptoms in the latest from the UK (so something like 6% of estimated cases) and 440,000 after a year.

No evidence that milder initial infection leads to lower chance of long Covid and we know nothing about Omicron risk. Long Covid risk is much more significant for most of the population than risk of death. Let 'er rip is dangerous policy if we take long Covid into account.
