In case it’s not obvious, many places in the U.S. may run out of PCR testing capacity soon. I don’t think the fact that many vaccinated will test positive has sunk in. Current quarantine/isolation guidelines don’t fit an Omicron wave. I think we have a communication emergency.

What are the ways you see the guidelines needing to change?

They have a lot of assumptions that likely no longer hold. I’m kind of hoping somebody in charge is about to roll out the new plan?

I think if you tighten the rules you will get very low compliance

Tighten what rule? At the collective level? Timing-wise, we are at the "urgently need realistic management of what's about to happen, properly explain it" emergency.

I mean the quarantine and isolation guidelines

Many more isolation policies could, in theory, be reframed so negative antigen tests ended the quarantine period.

I want to know how likely are we to transmit it if we do get it when we are fully vaccinated. Do we have much data?

Which means folks with prominent platforms need to advocate loudly for unpopular measures, such as circuit breaks, remote schooling in January, etc. Unless you think otherwise.

I don't think I can tweet about it in a hand-wavy manner, but more importantly I'm hoping what any of us suggests is kinda irrelevant because we're about to get some announcements, guidance, plans...

Do we have any idea how big of a risk boosted asymptomatic people are to spread the virus? The NFL lets those people go after 2 negative tests 24 hours apart. Is that realistic?
