Despite huge supply in the US, I’m hearing from people in many states that it’s not easy for the elderly to get a booster appointment now. Many places are full, apparently for weeks. I can’t confirm all the reports but seems important to look into? Especially outside few cities.https://twitter.com/NathanStall/status/1470181442273558528 …

The UK is opening boosters to all adults and deploying the military to set up additional clinics. Meanwhile, #Ontario dithered on rolling out boosters, and those <50 years of age won’t even be able to book a 3rd shot until January 4th. Act like it’s an emergency. Because it is. https://twitter.com/MaxFosterCNN/status/1470122805836591108 …

I can confirm that this is the case in Northern California. Available appointments are 4+ weeks out. Some walk-in clinics are operating in areas with high poverty rates but the big health care providers are way behind.

Same issue with shots for the little ones in NJ. Friend of mine got their kids their first dose, but because they were sick (non-covid) they had to delay the second shot. As of a few days ago, they couldn't get an appointment until 12/23 at the earliest

This isn’t good! This is essentially a question of delivery, not supply. And the elderly are least likely to be able to hustle like this, but most vulnerable and in need of a booster before holidays.https://twitter.com/smithaprasadh/status/1470207769957568512 …

East Liberty Target CVS had to cancel my booster appt for yesterday because they ran out and wouldn’t have more until midweek at the earliest. I opted to drive an hour each way, almost to WV, for the closest same-day shot I could find.

I live in a suburb of STL and when I took my son to get his second shot at Walgreens several walk ups for boosters who were elderly were turned away and told they were booked a couple weeks out.

Seems to be the case in many places. Booster by appointment seem to be pretty hard to come by for weeks or more. This isn’t good. Again, the elderly need these shots most and are least likely to manage the hustle required to make something happen.https://twitter.com/angiewindheim/status/1470244135369990144 …

Yes but from the statistics and looks of it, it didn’t really happen widely enough. And now there’s a logistics bottleneck. Need pop-up clinics again, soon targeting more vulnerable groups.https://twitter.com/kevinchawkins/status/1470254085463056386 …

Boosters were easy to get before Thanksgiving. Omicron changed that. Seniors have been eligible for boosters for a couple of months.

I got my CVS appt for TDaP cancelled with no explanation and no availability to rebook for at least a week. And I do wonder if it's because they're diverting the resources they have to boosters. My booster appt (several weeks ago) went off without a hitch.

In contrast in Boise where I got my booster on 11/5 it was easy to schedule a booster almost anytime at multiple pharmacy chains. Just checked 2 major pharmacy chains: many appointments this week in Boise too. Blue & Red America continue to have quite different pandemics. 😐
