I’m not sure what the case is but we are in Northern California and there are clinics for shots and boosters at the fairgrounds every weekend and we just walked up and were out in 20 minutes

It seems to be the same in my area. The city has a couple of big vax sites, e.g. Citi Field, but when I looked around my neighborhood it was just the drugstores, and they seem to fill up quickly.

here in western Oregon there are also some distribution centers in community centers, schools, malls and the like, but nothing at large scale, all very incremental. Very few walk in locations, appointments two to six weeks out
