You guys seem to think getting infected some heroic accomplishment. I guess you live a life with so little risk or accomplishment that you’ve lost all sense of what’s actually heroic? Vaccines aren’t that scary! Even most children manage it without crying.

You keep bringing this conversation back to Covid vaccines, but I don’t think the main point here is about boosters. It’s about completely moving on from Covid restrictions.

Protecting people, especially the vulnerable is the best way to move on, and again, and that's what vaccines do. It's an infectious disease, and, at a minimum, elderly and the immunocompromised aren't society's leftovers.

I don’t see how any of this is relevant. Nobody is calling people leftovers. Elderly & immunocompromised people existed before Covid, too. All we’re saying is that we’re not going to attempt to avoid an unavoidable Coronavirus, especially when those attempts come with great harm.

They existed before and now there is a novel virus that is a great threat to them because it's novel. I mean, really? This is like saying why deploy the fire department, the house was there before. Because. There. Is. A. Fire. Now. And what's the great harm of vaccines?

Post Covid vaccination elderly & immunocompromised people face comparable risks from Covid as they have faced their entire lives… And again, who is saying there is “great harm of vaccines”?

I have no idea what she's talking about. For the record,
@zeynep, Eli and I are both vaccinated. I believe so much in the power of vaccines that at this point there should be no more harmful and useless NPIs when this PI is far more effective.5 replies 0 retweets 35 likes -

I don't know what happened. She used to have more reasonable, nuanced takes on the pandemic and our response. What you guys are saying is in no way illogical, yet she still reacts as if removing NPIs in a mostly vaccinated country is crazy talk.

The country is not mostly vaccinated. Plus, the world is not mostly vaccinated. Plus, three-dose primary series are not rare for vaccines. Yes, I'd rather live in a world where we produced enough in the first six months to vaccinate globally, which would have shortened all this.

It is mostly vaccinated or already been infected and the recent study show previously infected are actually better protectedpic.twitter.com/1MkQeT58T8

*waves at the There is Only One True Paper on Natural Immunity posse*. You all only know that one! Yes, natural immunity is a thing and important, but that paper has a good amount of data issues. Nonetheless, you all know it's not the only paper on this heavily-studied topic?
