That said, tech world does like contrarians—possibly another factor why they were so opposed to almost all my positions. Just like the pandemic, I tend to believe there are very few contrarian arguments that hold up, and most things are and were fairly obvious, and basic.

The problem, as usual, is that a whole field can become blind to the fact they are, in fact, drawn by the contrarian argument and some their critics are the ones stating out the most milquetoast obvious points. Unfortunately, such attitudes, in turn, damage the field itself.

Sure, I’d probably concur with most of that. I’m just arguing that you and others championing someone like Alina is likely to result in, if not a reversal, at least increased attention. That seems a power dynamic worth considering critically too.
