This is so stupid. Annual boosters would be no big deal. That said, many other vaccines are a three-dose primary series. Some then have finite number of boosters—one or two, sometimes years later. The pandemic brought many hardships. Oh-noes-a-three-dose-primary-series isn't one.https://twitter.com/day_diff/status/1460979166816395276 …

Tetanus is something where people in both developed/developing countries are familiar with the idea of getting that shot as a booster if you got a cut from something that could cause it

The major issue here, however, is how this impacts vaccine mandates and access limited to those who are fully-vaccinated. Does this mean that those whom are only just fully vaccinated now won't have societal access?

'every 6mo' just doesn't comport with what we know about immunity. The immune response to each dose isn't likely to be linear in both effect and decay. Especially in absence of sig antigenic change. Andrew made a nice little graphic to explain.https://twitter.com/andrew_croxford/status/1435914603364560899?t=4CKXRs46wofGRCssWULvUA&s=19 …

The combination of “we don’t know a lot about these shots” and “you must take these shots” is the pill people don’t want to swallow. This would be fine if it was voluntary.

you did great work with respect to hammering the airborne nature of this virus but you were also wrong when advocating the lifting of mask mandates for vaccinated or doubting the need for boosters. everyone gets confused with the messaging because it was so wrong so many times.

I don't mind being wrong, but those aren't my positions. Mandates below. On boosters: being concerned about what this means for vaccine equity is still very true, and on their need, yes, asking for data was the right move, imo, especially given equity.https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/14/opinion/coronavirus-masks-vaccines.html …

I suppose there's one thing (aside from the propaganda/disinformation) now everyone knows: most of the population was direly clueless about vaccines and is only now discovering they should have gotten boosters all along...

Hopefully people know they should be getting their tetanus booster at least every tenth year.

It’s always safe to say “we don’t know,” but we really do know quite a bit about how coronaviruses in general, respiratory diseases in general, and this virus in particular, work, as well as how this vaccine and others like it, work.
-
We also know what Moderna is planning and desires with its mRNA vaccines.
