I keep seeing this claim. FWIW, Israel has fully-vaccinated only about 63% of its population—somewhat similar to the United States. It was never highly-vaccinated, let alone "universal vaccination." There are these sticky ideas that seem to take hold, and nobody checks on later.https://twitter.com/rbird8/status/1456622674554376195 …

Also, at the moment, Sweden has more vaccinated people than Israel (71% at least one dose; 67 two). People seem to get stuck around certain talking points, and then few check on it later.https://twitter.com/ArtKorenevsky/status/1456704317390458886 …

Like you want to get impressed and probe strategies? How about South Korea which was really unlucky early on, had a terrible and large outbreak, and, with great effort, managed to beat it all the way back and hold the line till vaccination (now at 75%).https://twitter.com/VincentRK/status/1456709897874251779?s=20 …

Maybe they conflate that Israel was quickly vaccinated with it being highly vaccinated. I agree with your analysis.

Israel is highly vaccinated and there are lots of sticks associated with not getting a vaccine - aka vaccine passports. The issue is that Israel also has lots of kids under 12.

Also, the last data in Israel still showed that double vax was 90%+ effective at protecting all age groups from hospitalization, likely understated given the prior infections in the unvaxxed cohorts. I don't get these gotchas.

I think people get mixed up bc Israel has already boosted so many of those vaccinated: https://www.google.at/amp/s/www.timesofisrael.com/israeli-study-covid-booster-shots-92-effective-at-preventing-serious-illness/amp/ …pic.twitter.com/7w0TIc7WWR

Further, I'm betting that Israel sees the same that we saw in KY. The hospitalizations are considerably more focused in the unvax population. And the avg age of the unvaxxed was 50. The avg age of the vaxxed was 80. Vaccines working great.

Something I’ve been wondering: how much data do we have on variation in the immune response generated by the two jab regime? Is there occasional human error that leads to a suboptimal immune boost, and if so, how does this correlate with breakthrough infections?

And children. Largest group infected here is under 17yo and then their parents
