I am mystified by how these southern states have such low rates of Covid when many of their governors haven’t followed cdc guidance. Someone please explain this to me.pic.twitter.com/klmBEPVu6p

Those red state governors are not fully reporting.
For example India had a brutal Delta wave. Massive deaths in just two months. Since had a mass vaccination campaign. Now, Delhi, city of ~15-20 million people, has ~0.05% positivity rate, ~40 cases per day and two week streak of no known COVID deaths. Prior outbreak + vaccines.
Or the least painful. The least damage to the economy and the quickest reopening. It’s paradise here in Florida now. I’m thinking of taking my N95 mask off for the first time in almost two years. Unvaxxed of course. It “burned out”.
LOL. It's never been paradise in Florida. Because it's... Florida.
Depends what we define as "pain."
People, like my elderly relative, dying? That's how I define it. Thanks for asking!
Having lived in one of these southern states for the last months of Delta, it’s painfully apparent how we got here. You’re right @zeynep - It was NOT pretty.
Mass infection is the most painful way to get there and it is what governors chose.
And these are pro-life states, of course where some of the residents are comfortable lecturing others on morality.
