It's more complicated than that. Top outlets are doing fine, yes, but I sense a certain level of resentment that they have to rely on FB. Also, FB has been *really* good for ideological rivals. In the war for ideas, FB is not helping the elite MSM win.

I don’t think it’s strategic, but I do think a lot of journalists start from a hostile view of Facebook because professional journalists are broadly competing with social media for attention share and influence.

But journalism as a profession is better than in the past? Feels like the old monopoly gave them better wages, status and power than now, that is why the fear of facebook.
