"Natural immunity" is not a great term, so I get the "so-called"—it's a nod to the descriptive nature of language where she uses the common term in public writing. Immunity from infection versus vaccination is the better term; neither is unnatural. Alas.https://twitter.com/sega_geneziz/status/1453721141684543496 …

It's so weird this became a controversial topic, and people say "what about natural immunity" as if it's a gotcha? People from many countries must be looking at some of this the way they look at the "yeah, I have no idea what my bill for that minor ER visit will be" tweets.

Of course you get some immunity after infection; of course better to avoid the risk of illness and get vaccinated; and of course if you got infected anyway, it's a thing to consider. Alas, that needs actionable record-keeping, to start with, and the ability to have sane policies.

The line about Israel is a little misleading. Israel's Green Pass is valid for 6 months either way, after either the most recent vaccination or infection.pic.twitter.com/bAB59etCtB

I disagree. We know so much more than she is willing to say. "Natural immunity can last a long time — possibly up to a year". The vaccine's protectiveness is no better. That is because this virus mutates fairly rapidly. We will keep seeing it again over and over.

The NYT doc talks about memory cells but appears to have misread the cited paper. A better statement would be - at least a year - since that was the duration of the study.

But when you claim we may still need one dose, you are opening it up to require and mandate ongoing doses of this vaccine which wanes over time.

Another article: Had COVID? Are you now immune? May provide some immunity. But still get vaccinated, scientists say Canada and the U.S. don't count previous infection as part of vaccination status Previous infection + vaccine = high protectionhttps://www.cbc.ca/news/health/natural-immunity-covid-19-vaccination-1.6223784 …

UK example, CDC could do same, no, doesn't require NHS type system to do. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1027511/Vaccine-surveillance-report-week-42.pdf … Tables 2, 3, 4, over 80, breakthru death just 1/2 rate unvaccinated. After Biden's 2 big bills, must do more on covid. Phase before 80% vax is UK 68% vax'd, 3/4 deaths are vax'd.
