Agree. What we usually get is medical doctors with broad claims on how people will react to various policies. I don’t always disagree with them—they’re nice, smart folks—but sometimes they’re really off or have unsupported guesses. But that’s all we get.

These panels were just clearly not designed and recruited for this task, unfortunately. If we want to decide when healthy babies should get their Tdap shots, they're fine. But managing vaccine strategy during a once in a century pandemic, no way.

Yes, exactly. Plus, again with all due respect medical doctors, clinical considerations are not always the same as population-level public health ones. Timing and evidentiary standards are different during emergencies with no ideal choices. And so on.
