Are we thinking about the same scientist here? Because “bounds of science” is an apt description of the content he posts. I haven’t seen another immunologist on this platform as familiar with the covid immunology literature as he is.

Not a crank at all and I’m surprised you @zeynep would participate in this attempted take down of a legitimate and intelligent scientist. You’re usually a good judge of which experts to trust and you’re way off the mark here.

I find the unwillingness of critics here to engage or level anything other than ad hominem attacks disturbing. Credit to Zeynep for at least engaging and explaining her position lower down in the thread, but I haven't seen a single attempt to justify the "crank" accusation.

Cheese is used by scientists that want to convince you there is retained efficacy by azn vs B1351. Those scientists are not being honest with themselves or you. There was not efficacy in moderate disease. The azn is garbage against B1351

There were zero severe cases and zero deaths in the placebo group in that study, so there's no evidence in that study that AZ protects against severe disease or death with Beta. Perhaps there's evidence in other studies. Let me know if you're aware of any.pic.twitter.com/A3dUQMuEiN

Yes we have had something way better than small trial that wasn’t powered enough for rare events: months of real life data from multiple countries. Is this like a joke account? Baffled here. The answer is clear and uncontroversial.

AJL made the remark in March when no data was available other than the 10-20% vaccine efficacy against infection. Considering the FDA threshold for covid vaccines was set at 50% efficacy, saying it wasn’t a good vaccine against beta was a fair statement with the data we had then.

Also, I’m taking you on your word @zeynep that there’s data proving it’s effective against severe disease because like the others in this thread, I haven’t seen that data published anywhere. It would be helpful to share a reference.
