Sure wish they would follow up on the impact of mRNA boosters for J&J in Iceland …

And unfortunately the follow-up gets 1/10th of the initial coverage because we've moved on to misunderstanding Wales

But what about India? 15% vaccination and look at their curves! Iceland is fair to bring into a conversation (though all their absolute numbers are quite low sample size) but please bring in the counterexamples as well.

India had a very widespread wave with Delta... I'm not saying we understand everything about why the waves crash, but having an extensive outbreak is certainly a big reason.

The U.S. is a Covid calamity. Shameful.

They had to reinstate restrictions to keep the delta down, tho.

Iceland has the distinct advantage of being, basically, Reykjavik and its environs and then a lot of space with the odd small settlement and one (count 'em) major road that skirts round its edge connecting them. What you can do there (and Seychelles, Malta etc) doesn't travel. 1/

Look here in the UK, cases rising from a high level, lots vaccinated but children left high and dry whilst adherence to NPIs is near to nil. Don't be the UK. Get a population that thinks it isn't over and close your borders as much as you can. Vaccines work but you need more. 2/

The way the situation developed, and is still developing in Seychelles would seem to justify a great deal of concern, if not the initial panic. It might look not so bad from a USA perspective, but that's a far too easy comparison.pic.twitter.com/KgZhogWgLU

Last sentence has been falsified a few times.. ie. Israel, you can blame Delta or the "lifting of restrictions" but the fact is their summer wave was worse than the past summer despite above average vax rates and no one has an answer except "it would've been worse w/o vax"
-
Restrictions were lifted and deaths are down, even with delta. It would have been worse without the vaccine, bar none.
