If booster doses could be whisked over to unvaccinated people I would send them in a heartbeat. If they can’t they should be used here. The immunology and short-term clinical data show value. I’m scratching my head at the people trashing them. Uptake will magnify the benefits.

Exactly all of this. The created reality of doses that “will be trashed” has led to indisputably misallocated vaccine. This is being pushed by some as the natural state of affairs.

The part I've been thinking about is can you imagine what might happen if we got a Delta-specific booster? All the wealthy countries will buy every last dose while whatever mRNA capacity we have will likely get directed to that. Talk about suboptimal local minima.

But that isn’t how it works, is it? We are in a world of many national policies where leaders are responsible for their people. I agree the world needs to be vaccinated. However, the world is giving 1 billion vaccines/per month now. The last-mile distribution problem is the key.

Agree. Blaming recipients of a booster vaccine for the shortcomings of distribution is disingenuous. Vaccines sitting in a freezer aren't helping anyone. Get them into arms, even if it's #3 in a vulnerable group. Not saying it's easy, but it's not the fault of the vaccinated.
