Not sure if there is a tinier hill to die on but... Here's mine: There's nothing "easy" about these "phone words". Just write out your actual phone number, dear (9XX) CALL-NOW.pic.twitter.com/33PP1ikHb8

I'm whining about the ones where this isn't the case, not the above example!https://twitter.com/ragepath/status/1440402535655763971 …

It's.... printed right below the word? I mean, I guess I get the category of gripe. But ever example I encounter in the wild is exactly like this one - number directly under mnemonic.

They’re harder to dial but easier to remember. I’d say their time has passed.

The thing is, how else do you embed memory of an important number people don't save to their contacts or need to recall frequently? It's worth teaching kids how to transliterate mnemonics into phone #s for that class of services that are important but occasional.

I think when searching for the B I need to press the 2 twice... But that's texting. 😜

All I ask is that when a business gives you a word, they also give you the numeric equivalent

Yeah I just haven't seen that in the real world in ages. I agree with you that's bad. Reading dialpads is a lost art.

I agree with you, though I remember a college friend whose number was xxx-BYOB :) I probably wouldn't remember it 35 years later, otherwise!

Clearly you are young. Once upon a time all dial and touch fixed telephones and early celulars had the letters printed on the number keys. And for years these mnemonics worked great for (800) numbers. Smart phones killed all that.
