Michael Lin, MD PhD 🧬 @michaelzlin"The seven-day average of new cases this week was up 10% compared to last week's average, Walensky said. Michael Lin, MD PhD 🧬 @michaelzlinSorry gotta go against Fauci on this one, just as I did in March 2020 on masks. If you don't want to be a breakthrough infection and pass on the virus (vaxxed still have ~20% the chance of unvaxxed with Delta) and you're highly exposed, then wear a mask. Simple, cheap, convenient https://twitter.com/MonicaGandhi9/status/1411378091587297282 …Show this thread1 reply 2 retweets 24 likesShow this thread -

From 2021.07.04 on whether there will be Delta deaths in Israelhttps://twitter.com/michaelzlin/status/1411590574981799944 …
Michael Lin, MD PhD 🧬 added,
Michael Lin, MD PhD 🧬 @michaelzlinSomeone is forgetting it takes 1mo from cases to death. Today's deaths should be 0, because there were 0 cases 1 month ago, not because of the vaccine. Also few deaths expected for a while with daily cases ~200 and case fatality rate ~1% across all ages, <0.1% for those <50yo. https://twitter.com/EricTopol/status/1411494583914041344 …1 reply 1 retweet 21 likesShow this thread -

Michael Lin, MD PhD 🧬 @michaelzlinWe can be grateful to Slavitt for an impressively smooth vax rollout. But for no fault of the WH, Delta and vax intransigence has changed the game. Thus the mission is clearly not accomplished, and the celebratory mood as pushed by such posts will end up hurting WH credibility. https://twitter.com/ASlavitt/status/1411749332630396929 …1 reply 1 retweet 22 likesShow this thread -

From 2021.07.05 on Delta breaking CDC assumptions about transmission from vaccinated peoplehttps://twitter.com/michaelzlin/status/1412127857124397061 …

Michael Lin, MD PhD 🧬 @michaelzlinOur current health policies still derive from assessments of vaccine efficacy made in April. Delta should be forcing us to revisit those assessments, but instead CDC clings to the past. The public health system needs to get ahead of the problem, not fight the last battle. pic.twitter.com/IdD1tnvrqwShow this thread2 replies 9 retweets 34 likesShow this thread -

In case there was any doubt that fear of severe disease is a better motivator for getting vaccinated than the inconvenience of ignoring masking guidelineshttps://www.cnn.com/2021/08/20/health/us-coronavirus-friday/index.html …

It’s been amazing to see that one. Clearly, realistic fear has been motivating people. 90% of 65+ in the United States have at least one dose. That same demographic is very exposed to misinformation.

Polio vaccinations were motivated by fear. It worked.
