I’ll try to pass the message to the many trapped in Kabul and other provinces, burning their documents in hiding, sending harrowing, despairing and unanswered appeals for help. (I guess we can assume the already-executed would have apologized for the unnecessary stress on us?)

Strawman much? Saying the media should acknowledge that not everyone is going to make it out is somehow equivalent to trying to escalate the conflict? WTF?

If anything, we should have full awareness that innocent people have died, and still will (in all likelihood). It paints a more complete picture that war is, indeed, hell (even the "end"). So it must be avoided.

Yeah it’s very vague and unconfirmed stuff, only affects those of us prone to histrionics.
