How many people get Covid from being in the hospital? https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(21)01786-4/fulltext … @TheLancet "We estimate that 11.3%... of patients with COVID-19 in 314 UK hospitals became infected after hospital admission; and ... 6.8% ...of all patients with COVID-19 had nosocomial infections"pic.twitter.com/IOMTtgjE7k

That's UK right? Worse ventilation than US hospitals, and infection-control societies were (some still are) very resistant to upgrading from "droplet" precautions. (There was a recent harrowing case from Finland: pretty clear involvement of ventilation but also denial).

any info on dr offices? seems like a lot of dr offices may not have good ventilation or even know about ventilation. a lot of closed windows. also - why does @HopkinsMedicine not allow patients to wear n95 if they're getting an mri - even if their n95 has no metal in it?

Hospital in the United States tend to have very good ventilation, and I suspect so does Hopkins Medicine, especially in patient areas. They are built for this, and in general I would trust them. (I've no idea why not in MRI rooms).

I've been in at least four different London hospitals during the pandemic. Doors and windows shut at all times. Contact and droplet precautions, but no ventilation. Nurse's reaction to my opening a window in the waiting area: "It's hot, isn't it?" 🤦🏻‍♀️
