We’ve had suggested data on that, suggesting more severity, since May. Maybe. Definitely more transmissible—a lot more. Much much more. Shorter serial interval seems likely as well. That’s bad enough without extra severity. Vaccination is the answer.https://twitter.com/BabsSheKing/status/1420936461973704706 …

How much are these numbers influenced by schools opening or closing?

The new info is really confusing because many people seem to take it as all vaccinated are breakthrough cases.

Directly above your tweet on my home page is this report. I'm in the UK, this is the first time I've heard Delta is more severe than earlier variants. Is it true?https://twitter.com/washingtonpost/status/1420920754351316992?s=20 …

Confirmed cases are confirmed positivie tested results. Anecdotal evidence that vaccinated people are less likely to test, unless obvious symptoms.

I'm hopeful, but this one's too early to call for me. Why would vaccinations cause such a massive drop in such a short period? And why did that also happen in the past supposedly pre-vaccines? (Like Malta in March). And deaths have been trailing before too.

It washed over the unvaccinated. (Which weren’t a big group in either country). Did the same in India—except there, millions died.
