I understand your arguments but saying you’re fully vaccinated and not understanding the importance of bringing back restrictions is a contradiction. You got fully vaccinated for protection, now you’re anti mask? It doesn’t make sense.

I would also argue for me that vaccines offer vastly more protection than the restrictions we had last year. I work in a restaurant. I am guessing my risk levels are orders of magnitude higher than yours. I want to reduce Covid to normal risks. Realize we’re not getting to zero.

Yes, a vaccine should offer more protection than a mask but if you know both are effective, why not do both? The rates are doubling each week with a vaccine so the risk is getting higher.

It’s doubling mostly among people who haven’t been vaccinated. Most of the people who’ve been vaccinated are getting something more like the flu. I’m fine with that risk. I dont want to go to the hospital or die with it.

That’s not true, fully vaccinated people are getting Covid and Pfizer said their vaccine isn’t very effective against the delta variant(that’s the vaccine I got). You said you went to the hospital with it before, so it’s your risk but I’m staying masked.

LOL, you’re telling someone who went to the hospital for 5 days with Covid despite wearing a mask that I need to wear a mask to protect myself, and I’m in trouble if I don’t?

I’m saying it’s your risk but if science is telling us that a vaccine AND a mask are more effective, I’m going to do that. I have no problem with a small piece of fabric covering my face, even if it just saves one life.

I wore a mask 6-14 hours 5 days a week for a year while working in one of the most dangerous jobs in America. I don’t have a problem wearing a mask, I just don’t see the point. I’m guessing in any typical day I was more at risk than you were in a week or month.

I don’t think so, I think I just practiced social distancing and wearing my mask more. I work 5 days a week for 8 hours a day in an environment where lots of people don’t wear masks. It doesn’t surprise me when people don’t want to wear a mask and also already had Covid.

This is one of the best pieces I’ve seen on Covid which
@zeynep published in her sub stack. I’ve read others like it, but it strongly influences how I see the virus and the vaccine.https://www.theinsight.org/p/novelty-means-severity-the-key-to …1 reply 1 retweet 2 likes
I think that article by @dylanhmorris makes what’s among the most important but overlooked points in this pandemic.

It’s highly influenced how I see the vaccines, and a large part of why I’m not as worried about the variants as many people on here are.
