Some of the details are really eye-popping, particularly the thesaurus incident and the "June 31st" date

Somebody do the Carvallo paper next. More seriously: why do we even have a journal system if the editors and peer-reviewers can't find this crap in 6 months, but medical students doing homework can find it easily?
-
Er ... correction: "Despite never passing peer-review or being published in any scientific journal, the Elgazzar study went on to get cited in approximately 30 other studies". Still very bad, but in a slightly different way.

Something is broken alright. In the case of ivermectin, scientists should've done an equally large repeat of the trial. In case it really did work (hugely important information) or did not work (also very important). We're in a pandemic, this shouldn't have been left hanging.

This article is slanderous. Makes it sound as if the Ivermectin story is a left vs. right issue and paints people like Pierre Kory into a corner allegedly “dominated by a mix of right-wing figures, anti-vaxxers and outright conspiracists.”
-
Apparently, this was a pretty bad study, or it was even outright fabricated. However paragraphs like this are just outright disingenuous, since Kory made it clear from the beginning that the issue was the lack of RCTs.pic.twitter.com/tQWloPN7wI

And shockingly, those that claim big pharma cares about nothing but profit, are the ones cheering on big pharma not running RCTs on a potentially life saving medicine.
