Cruise ships clearly have a vested interest in not understanding, but still hard to accept reality is that it took a year of fighting to get WHO and Western public health agencies to concede the obvious reality of airborne transmission as key to spread.https://twitter.com/indigomisha/status/1405157562484412418 …

Looks, this isn't "anti-science" to say this. Science is a miracle of an enterprise, really. It makes discoveries and understands the world in a way we almost shouldn't be able to considering how we work as humans. OTOH, humans and their institutions operate with human dynamics.

Fine. But I have a hunch they may have other opportunities for norovirus spread on a cruse ship. (And yes, that’s a very real problem for them).😬https://twitter.com/realAKJackson/status/1405167642889965568 …

That is standard (and logical) procedure for what they usually fight on ships - norovirus. So I understand, even if it is stupid.

Science, like all human institutions, is constantly backsliding, under the force of political gravity, towards graft, dishonesty, and corruption. Constant vigilance is required to fight that tendency. Criticism where it's warranted is an absolute necessity.

That's why I don't like it when people make excuses for or minimize the crisis of replication. If you aren't willing to identify and remove the rot because it's embarrassing or inconvenient, you'll quickly find that the rot spreads.
