And what do we mean by “increased transmissibility?” Are we talking about mutations that make the virus more “fit” and better able to bind to a host cell? Are we saying that these variants can penetrate masks and circumvent NPI’s?
I bring this up because I think @profvrr has been right all along. These variants are not biologically more transmissible. They are more fit. And their fitness advantage can explain how they displace other variants. I think transmissibility is the wrong term.
