I agree. The faculty should decide. But this is not a huge scandal or a cancellation it seems to me.https://twitter.com/Rationalist69/status/1395120087686909961 …

Andrew's take on this is very disappointing.

Entirely predictable.

She has done that - see Australia in 1975. Just a plug for an Australian republic at some point

The exact chain of events is not yet clear, but it was the school's own local level board of trustees that did not act on the tenure recommendation, not the system level board of governors. Both boards are politically appointed, but they are different levels.
-
Yes, it was the trustees. They are political appointees, outside the university academic process which was completed at every level. (Not even getting into the heavily gerrymandered process that led to that particular GA that made the appointments etc.)

@zeynep is obviously right here (as she so often is), which is why Sullivan doesn’t respond. Fraudulent as ever.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@zeynep you translated this perfectly for a Harvard brit with a fetish for “cancellation”, and fixation on whatever pride there is in being “anti-woke”. Grievance peddlers come in all shapes, sizes, pedigrees and accents.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I'm stating a general principle here, not a chronology. And we agree.

So agree it’s a cancellation.
