The glaring errors are obvious even to this layperson. Huge public health pendulum shifts must always be done with utmost caution and wisdom, not feeling either was fully at play here. Walensky may not be as great under extreme pressure as we all wish her to be.
OTOH no amount of coordination, messaging or anything else could change the mostly red state determination to oppose recommendations. Even if the Gipper himself emerged from the hereafter telling them to wear masks and vaccinate they would still revert to opposition.
