Yet here in the UK gyms are open with no mask mandate

I'm not sure as I haven't been back to the gym yet

There is specific advice to increase ventilation in sports facilities https://www.gov.uk/guidance/working-safely-during-coronavirus-covid-19/providers-of-grassroots-sport-and-gym-leisure-facilities#sec-5-5 …pic.twitter.com/BRFmrDI1dP
The latest in the seemingly endless parade of stupid rules.
If it’s airborne how does a mask prevent the virus entering the body via the lacrimal system?
The lacrimal system doesn't suck in air by the liter. It can pick up whatever happens to hit it, but it's like the difference between the dust that hits a wall vs the dust that hits a vacuum cleaner bag.
What do you think of 100% fresh air circulation and HEPA filters like @BarrysBootcamp Miami?
Same q. We have the same rules in Estonia. Fortunately with a 25% cap on people. Wondering whether the mask error can be offset by ventilation.
This sounds similar to a Dutch rule where you have to wear a mask when moving indoors (e.g. a theatre, restaurant or meeting room), but not when stationary. I guess some people want to learn things the hard way.
The biggest problem I'm seeing here (perhaps UK is different) is a total lack of measuring which measures actually work. There's a ton of measurement of compliance; we have weekly statistics of how often people wash their hands. But it's simply taken as gospel that this matters.
Same for Quebec with a third wave initiated in Quebec City...in a gym. 39 clusters and 356 secondary cases related.
