And countries that had lock-downs/effective last years who haven't updated their playbook are even more vulnerable because they'll deploy the wrong draconian strategy to a new surge in a fatigued population. My own family has now had 3 cases in the last 3 weeks due to this.
India is repeating its forced quarantines from last year even when hospitals have reached their breaking point. So when middle class civil workers get COVID, they ask doctors to forge the dx to not get kettled into such facilities. But without a dx, they can't take sick leave.
Aye. Remember the Atlantic Canada success story with rapid testing I told you about? It just failed here in Nova Scotia. Some cases broke through and we had to go into total lockdown, variants spread so fast with no immunity. Prob 3-4 weeks minimum to get back to zero.
Sort of like how Trump's horrible response to Covid obscure the not nearly as bad but still bad responses of so many Western governments.
In a country of this size with a creaking health system, it was always going to be tough. But the complete failure of the government to prepare for it is appalling. Even now it’s politics and denial 
Understanding the aerosol transmission of covid and how to mitigate covid, while pending vaccine, remains the cheapest, fastest, and most scalable option everywhere. WHO on aerosols hasn't really made the news yet. Lockdowns will destroy societies. Log jam needs to be broken.
