It’s extra work to decide who is in camp “misinformation spreader” and who is in camp “science follower.”
There’s plenty of work to do just saying why ideas are right or wrong (though less so with @zeynep repeatedly killing it.)https://twitter.com/ATabarrok/status/1387800426230149123 …

Wow, a new bar is set for the highest form of flattery: intra-institution thanks for criticism.
-
It happens so much to me but it's not to flatter me! It helps them. Many on the inside know better than any of us that they could do better, but have a variety of obstacles within. It's not always easy to make things work well. Substantive criticism can help them improve things.

I think a big part comes down to good- vs bad-faith. Grifters (bad-faith) don't care about facts or details, they just want to grind their axe.
-
But it’s a drain to try to determine good v bad faith. And easy to get wrong. And what about when grifters make good arguments? More effective and efficient to just stick to the ideas.

Hopefully you received a thank you letter from the CDC on your Atlantic piece and they are working on changing the guidelines?
