For @insight, I wrote about the gaslighting of some basic facts about this pathogen that were evident by February of 2020: presymptomatic infectiousness, clusters and airborne transmission. (Other country’s scientists noted these and acted accordingly.) https://zeynep.substack.com/p/the-gaslighting-of-science …pic.twitter.com/g7p2glfIg9

We need an NTSB style (no-blame) investigation into what went wrong and why most Western nations’ scientific apparatus/authorities largely missed acting on some key basics that many other countries quickly realized because the evidence was so strong. Something went deeply wrong.

On how things are *now* I'd recommend the whole debate referenced below, between scientists and the chair of the WHO Infection Prevention and Control working group. (When asked about N95 for healthcare workers, he said "acne" as his top objection. Really.)https://twitter.com/jljcolorado/status/1380641336316067841 …

These are the arguments against using N95s for COVID-19 from one of the top people in @WHO's infection prevention and control committee. Compared to the pro of preventing a deadly disease. I am speechless... https://twitter.com/DRTomlinsonEP/status/1380614939648344071 …

Old dogmas are hard to kill. I have been talking about the virus being airborne since Feb/Mar 2020. It's nice to have a lot of company now. I think we may actually kill this dogma.

Prior to the pandemic in some institutions I was associated with there was a crazy reluctance to provide N95s as a prophylactic manner. They made a big deal about how they needed to be fitted and that they had to come from occupational health. I wonder if that spilled over.

There really needs to be an analysis of the mental dysfunction that caused the WHO and CDC to, even a year later, resist the notion that this is airborn. So many cases where droplets would need to do U-turns.

This can't be real. Either way, huge problem is when science becomes passionate vs. dispassionate, and when someone links their identity to their belief. Creates very little room to change belief. Becomes a fight for their identity, and those are tough fights to give in on.

Do watch it. He dismisses an enormous amount of evidence, cites his own (non-peer reviewed non-public) study in an area he's not an expert, dismisses the expert IN THAT VERY AREA in the zoom and the published work, and then says "acne" when epi doc says what about N95s for HCW?

do you know about the WHO decision making process and/or governance? Don’t they have some scientists from those countries which acted accordingly? The fact that the @who account still doesn’t talk about airborne transmission is appalling…

One simple cream applied once a day can completely solve the acne problem. My god.
