I'm increasingly convinced that clear thinking is primarily a struggle against motivated reasoning, with most everything else we tend to see as important and central instead playing a supporting role in that fight.

And most meditative approaches teach us to observe our own thinking by slowing down. Speaking for myself it does get easier (still a struggle if we’re rushing) to catch our own steps into motivated reasoning. The other problem is expertise. Great when it works; can be a curse!
