Anyway, I probably already read all the big/mainstream yellow fever books (many before the pandemic, don't ask, I have weird hobbies) but feel free to send any recs of lesser known books/papers about the epistemology/historic struggle to understand yellow fever's transmission.

I don't understand the yellow fever comparison at all. If you go to many developing countries, the yellow fever vaccine is free and widely available. Covid vaccines are not. Covid vaccine passports would be terrible discrimination.

Hence the word "ahistorical" in my tweet.

Vodka & lemonade! I got that shot prior to heading to live in SE Asia. Arm hurt for a week.

What makes yellow fever interesting to you? I know little about it - I just remember learning how it devastated workers building the Panama Canal.

I seem to recall Typhoid was also on the Yellow Card once upon a time but I could be wrong and Google is absolutely no help on this at the moment.

I have a yellow fever card and nobody really bothered to check it in most of the affected regions where it was required, and in the few places they did, they offered the vaccine and the card on the spot.
