Ah yes, because people suffering from depression don't want to go back to the things they once enjoyed, whereas those with "real" illnesses do. When are we going to recognize that this discourse is utterly stigmatizing of those with mental illness? https://www.vice.com/en/article/qjpywp/the-medical-system-should-have-been-prepared-for-long-haul-covid-patients-symptoms …pic.twitter.com/yli6sAnyaP

These articles are probably written with the intent of being helpful, but probably push the likelihood of offering better help to either community further into the future. Ouch.

It is a painful but common issue--ie, the attempt to normalize one person's experience by further denormalizing someone else's experience. "Well, at least you aren't xxxxx."

That's not what article is doing at all. It is explaining why automatic labeling with a diagnosis that hasn't been investigated is dangerous. You can't diagnose someone with a mental illness in a minute and a half. This harms everyone.

Did you read the article? Adam appears to have done a bad faith misread of one paragraph to avoid introspection about the harm that his long COVID denialism is doing to patients. Absolutely nothing in the article suggests that depression isn’t a deadly serious illness

The way ppl with ME will be helped is by Drs and researches getting on board with the ongoing research not by endless debates about why Drs believe it is or is not depression.https://med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/2019/04/biomarker-for-chronic-fatigue-syndrome-identified.html …
