Folks, *look* at this chart. That red line that's fallen of a cliff starting around January 10 is 65+ folks hospitalized for COVID. Already, 62.8% of 65+ and 26.6% of *all adults in the US had at least one vaccine dose. (And hospitalization lags infection by about three weeks).pic.twitter.com/SaerMSaWtO

I made the chart from CDC data... I know the numbers. I volunteer at a vaccination clinic so I've been directly observing the supply increase. Still... My head knows all this but I keep having to run the numbers myself to wrap my mind around it. Data here:https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#datatracker-home …

It'll take some work to distangle the various effects here—vaccination, behavior shift, prior immunity, seasonality, factor X... But these are very encouraging trends.

Are the impacts from the variants masked in here? Just curious.

Is the trend of govenors opening up and cases rising okay because hospitalization in these groups is down, or is it bad policy that will unnecessarily slow the recovery?

Well this is encouraging yes. The cause of such a widespread virus, deaths and then vaccine remind me of claiming Dunkirk was a victory.

Is there a multiplier reduction factor based on vaccination rates? I'm thinking the spring break surge will be bad, but not dire.

If you play the % of total hospitalisations and the decay rates it becomes much more obvious. In the U.K. we’re seeing it a a non-linear decay on a log scale.

We need to talk about Henry Gunther, the last soldier to die in WWI. He attacked a German machine gun nest at 1059am on Armistice Day. One minute before the 11am cease fire. Don't be the last to die needlessly in the war against COVID.

Didn't the RTPCR threshold change as well after Biden took office?
