Spot-on analysis of this problematic report of long covid in people who (reportedly) never had symptoms during acute infection. Underscores many flaws, in particular the fact that we desperately need a control group -- again. @zeynephttps://zeynep.substack.com/p/long-covid-how-bungle-reporting-on?token=eyJ1c2VyX2lkIjoxOTY2MTIxLCJwb3N0X2lkIjozMzYyODc4NCwiXyI6IkpMMWZ6IiwiaWF0IjoxNjE1NTc4NTc4LCJleHAiOjE2MTU1ODIxNzgsImlzcyI6InB1Yi0xMTg0Iiwic3ViIjoicG9zdC1yZWFjdGlvbiJ9.FoCCbVknLAS50tbS_SFIrYdCHSJdzoi9m9Lm8m6JLbo …

This is a bummer of an essay. Many (incl.
#LongCOVID folks) aren't thrilled about that paper (anxiety isn't a relevant symptom/the clusters are garbage) but there are other LC studies at this point that do have control groups & do have representative prevalence. Why ignore those? -
2 years ago my wife and 6 yr old had a bad flu and it changed their mental state for weeks. So much so we had to get counseling. They both had unbearable anxiety. Our Family Dr was very surprised but thankfully took us seriously.
