Something like this could *never* happen on a podcast. That’s not a dis on podcasts, just a recognition that this is something fundamentally different.pic.twitter.com/gwxbSZfGuJ

Sure but who wants to listen to random people ranting? Curation and quality win even in audio
There was no ranting in that room. Or many of the rooms I’m in. And even then, I love listening to rants. There’s real info in a rant.
Part of why some of us aren't getting is because we're excluded. Would totally, totally love getting it.
It’s overrated. At least for introverts like me. Hard to find content that isn’t polluted by palaver of so-called influencers and self-marketeers. A lot of talks about the right audio gear you need.
I've always explained Twitter's big thing as giving people a way to "hear" each other... globally (!)... as never before in human history. Now someone made this a literal hearing of each other – makes sense.
Linear, mono-logical, author-audience (monotheistic) outputs - the "book" being the archetype – are rooted in (produced by) conversations – real-life talking to each other... and imaginary (in our minds) "conversations" with distant/dead people. Conversational is the source.
The web allows for space-independent, real-time context building... between people who have never met IRL... which is how Twitter works... and context is the precondition for instant, real-time meaning generation – aka conversations.
First impressions for me weren't good. It might depend on if a lot of your contacts were in it (wow this is a thing) vs the recommendations (wow this is really noisy and weird). The default follow 50 people algorithm (even after answering all those questions) failed me.
I love this explanatory metaphor: Clubhouse is to podcasts what live concerts are to recorded albums.
Makes sense. I’ve never been a live concert person so Clubhouse is personally not exciting to me
