This won’t help most people but I will share, if only to point out how ridiculous it all is. First, it involves a 6”5 male person. Start there. That person called ahead to the business Mgr to tell them I am a problem. If they wanted to sell the car, they had one hour.https://twitter.com/mspaigefullcoll/status/1363567932312154112 …

I test drove the car, chose it and then gave the business manager and only a manager a flash drive with my financial documents. I said that when the car was cleaned & all the papers were in one folder to call me and I would a lot 45 minutes to the process. I always used my title

I was a stone cold -excuse me- bitch the entire time. No smiling, nothing. I leaned into every stereotype. And every time, the male person stood just off to the corner of me. So generally I was unpleasant and sexist and mean. That’s how I bought a car in less than a week.

They cannot call me Tressie. They cannot ask me about the weather. They cannot comment on my job. Nothing. No affect at all. It’s a stupid process but they set up the incentives this way.

No one asked but my medical hack is: if you can, get rich. Hands down that’s the best hack. If you cannot, choose sports medicine. I look for medical people who work with athletes because they are slightly less romantic about their professional status as god.

I’ve also found them to be less revolted by large bodies and more attuned to listening to the patient because athletes are considered experts on their bodies. Make up a sport. Tell them you’re an amateur curler. And get slightly better care.

Yes totally to sports medicine! That’s my hack, too. They are used to “how do I get back to X” and a functional approach rather than “you seem fine, I’m not going to bother with this relatively small to ME thing even though it clearly is functionally very important to you!”

Car hack. Still driving a 21-year old Civic because... no.
