They actually do that in many corporations, too. This is especially an American thing, but not just. Literally the same thing down to the "our loss is their gain". That part isn't media criticism as much as a reflection of lack of experience with corporate USA.
Im just waiting for the deBoer takedown of people saying nice things about the deceased during funerals.
The grossest thing is when some media person posts a picture of their newborn on twitter, and every one jumps in like "aww, thats the most beautiful looking baby" even though its just a normal looking baby.
Yeah, exactly! We do that to babies, too! It's just normal. To be honest, I DO know people who are individually annoyed by the "aaaw, cute baby" and "you got engaged! loveliest looking couple!" stuff, too but they keep it to themselves. Making an issue out of is kinda weird.
I think it's a common reaction for a person who feels professionally out of it or left behind.
I'm not judging why. As I said, I know people who feel similarly annoyed by the "aaaw cutest ever baby" Facebook, even if they don't particularly hate babies. (Well, some do
). That's what the mute thread/post button is for, ahem. Right after typing "best baby ever!"
