The grossest thing is when some media person posts a picture of their newborn on twitter, and every one jumps in like "aww, thats the most beautiful looking baby" even though its just a normal looking baby.

If they were broadly on Twitter, would totally expect them to. You see it on Facebook. It's true that journalists are disproportionately on Twitter as it is related to their job, but but effusive congratulations on job changes, minor/major promotions... Common normal human thing.
