But one that is truly nonsensical to believe - 5% of 20000 vaccinated people in a Ph3 trial is 1000 people. That's nuts! But "95% effective" meaning "95% of cases in a trial were in the non-vaccinated group" doesn't make intuitive sense to non-sciencey types so... *shrug*
Like, if instead the top-line results were communicated as "This trial saw 20x more non-vaccinated people get infected than vaccinated people." Wouldn't that help non-sciencey people understand better? I'm getting deja vu about @FiveThirtyEight changing their model from % to odds
