Personally speaking, I'm ok with that *outdoors* as long as people don't crowd. I'm not concerned about my fleeting encounters with joggers. It's the indoors part—because of accumulating aerosols—that's the problem & that's what the rules should reflect.https://twitter.com/DavidElfstrom/status/1361035318120611842 …

Rules/guidelines should reflect underlying mechanisms, which we should explain them people so they can use their judgment, too. There's no "six feet" that divides safe/unsafe: there are mechanisms that affect how distance protects in different environments. True for masks, too!

Yeah. UK had an "eat out to help out" campaign where they gave people money to eat *in* restaurants but banned from using the money for take-out. Wasn't a great fan of that.https://twitter.com/chrisnoelie/status/1361051440484151300 …

The gym at my college requires masks at all time including while running on the treadmill. It is doable - I run 5 miles a day there. And we test every single person on campus every week and have since August. Our numbers stayed low.

My son’s principal sent an email about being Covid safe and made no mention of masks or avoiding prolonged contact indoors. Instead he mentions hand washing, sanitizing surfaces and staying home when you’re sick. It was like an email from March 2020!

There’s something very ...odd, disturbing, about some people’s emphasis on hand washing over all the other known mitigation strategies.

And how about Sweden, where people criticizing the lax measures, the herd immunity policy and the anti-masking strategy have paid a heavy mental and social toll:https://twitter.com/Permoman/status/1360979676429242370 …

Doesn't the WHO recommend *against* masks when exercising?
-
Yes but it’s a stupid recommendation. They have not updated since March 2020. That’s the point: all the guidance is treating this as a droplet and fomite disease
