I'm far, far, far from the only person to point out that the public is hearing "vaccines aren't changing anything" rather than "it's early, and here's how they will change what you can do, and some of it soon, too." It's really not about what people who hear from you may think.

As in Dr. Taylor's tweet at the top of this thread, the "public" is not largely hearing "vaccines aren't changing anything." That's not just based on what I've seen personally on Twitter. Issues with equitable access are well documented.

These feuds are emblematic of exactly the problem in separating scientific debate from public health communications: many voices debating vs one voice educating. How is a layperson to distinguish? Esp. when the media runs with every preprint and FB antivax propaganda abounds.
