So, I'm not going to tag all the folks I've had disagreements with for *months* now, since December, who didn't believe me that our bungled messaging on post-vaccine transmission was fueling vaccine hesitancy.
How many examples have we heard now? I hear this every single day. https://t.co/AmOgwNgx39

To make it clear, the remedy isn't to give false or unsubstantiated hope, but to get out of the "we don't know" trap when we *do* have some sense of the direction, but need more clarity with data (which we can say), and also to emphasize the real upside!

I worry that vaccine hesitancy is a theoretical concept to many folks. And since people on twitter are itching to get vaccinated that most folks--even those at grave risk of COVID-19 related morbidity and mortality--are as well. Pro-tip: many aren't.https://twitter.com/sdbaral/status/1346107956794970112 …

Everyone I talked to who's vaccinated younger groups or access to federal/state data has been very, very worried. The initial wave is the super eager (yeay!) so that's masking the other current. I'm working with the eager groups now and it's pretty amazing.

Totally. We spent hours on education. And then more hours on consent forms as many folks haven't done a consent form in a long time/ever. And then folks with immune-mediated conditions had a second consent form we had to do. Folks had a lot of questions--and all takes time.

Yup. What comes after the highly vaccine-motivated have sought out jabs seems to me to be the crucial and underappreciated unknown right now...

To me, it's the very moment that all will realize the need to transition from passive to active strategies. Sure, some came to us. But now, we need to go to them. And if we do it right, we will better align the promise of vaccines with actual impact.https://thetributary.substack.com/p/duval-county-is-doing-better-than …

Yeah, we've moved to going to people here, too which is great, but there is still significant unmet demand from the eager folks, so doing that as fast as possible.

Great! I hope also an alignment of people being eager and people being at risk for
#COVID19 (ie, not just at serious risk of M/M from COVID19). But news like this from the new admin gives me great hope!https://twitter.com/JuliaLMarcus/status/1359323605386076160 …Stefan Baral added,
