It's also how many seniors told me they learned they had a vaccination appointment. (They had filled many forms on many websites and got nowhere and then, out of the blue, got a call telling them they got an appointment. What if they hadn't picked it up? What if it was a scam?)https://twitter.com/AlanMCole/status/1358834268001210368 …

Sanity! Imagine that. This plus setting up vaccination clinics in underserved areas plus workplaces prone to outbreaks (warehouses, meat-packing etc) would go a long way. Right now, in many states, it's vaccination roulette and field day for scams.https://twitter.com/TulliusCicero43/status/1359182436341579776 …

2/2 her appointment was in another county. She drives there, but still thinks this might be a scam. She got vaccinated but her husband was not. My friend and her husband are in their 70s.

So here in TN, if you don’t live in one of the four biggest cities, the state runs the county health department. One phone number or one web site to sign up. I signed up last week online: only asked for contact info and reason I qualified. /1

Yesterday I was called by local health dept from familiar number for appointment today. I just happen to have that contact. A best practice should include giving out the phone numbers you might get a call from. Maybe even a downloadable contact. 2/2

This is one of the benefits of Medicare-for-all too frequently overlooked in the US. It’s not just about “free care”. Many Australians pay something for health care. But because we’re all inside the Medicare system, we’re coordinated; we don’t fall through the cracks.
