I made a REALLY bullish thread when I started on Twitter explaining how it was 'nigh-on-impossible' that vaccines would not reduce transmission and I chickened out and deleted it. I really wish I hadn't done that now.
Did anyone unroll it?!

I have managed to salvage this namby-pamby polite thread from the rubble of my bravery.https://twitter.com/andrew_croxford/status/1340600787928530944?s=20 …

Will friendly respect, Andrew. Thank you for this. This has been a messaging disaster. Constantly hearing "no effect on transmission" *and* seeing it amplified by the misinformers. I wish the field had been loud: "it *will* likely have an effect, but we're waiting to quantify."

I like your thread and thank you! I hope we get more studies like this (we already had prelim Moderna data!) and we get better at messaging. I remain committed to the idea we can express remaining uncertainty without sounding either hopeless or that we don't know anything at all.
