Good coverage of the latest messaging disaster, in a year with many. We are dramatically underselling the amazing vaccines, exaggrating the uncertainties and people trying to emphasize the good news are being drowned out, or worse.https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/18/briefing/donald-trump-pardon-phil-spector-coronavirus-deaths.html …

Already saw multiple antivaxxers pick up the whole “vaccines don’t stop transmission and infection” communication line to spread vaccine hesitancy. This already backfired ... massively.

It is super widespread among the antivaxxer crowd and they are constantly sharing mainstream media articles and expert tweets (usually screenshots). And they people tell me this isn’t happening. Not among their friends, maybe. It’s happening.

Working in ER yesterday in one of Canada's covid hotspots, and 2 of the RNs working with me- both caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable- said they didn't get mRNA vaccine b/c it wouldn't stop transmission. Messaging fail! Underselling = misinformation = poor decisions.

I've been hearing this non-stop since December. Terrible.
