yes. the most persuasive feedback i've gotten is from people who know the internal work better than I do. to the extent Fauci was uniquely capable of protecting, eg, the vaccine approval process from political contamination, they have a strong point.

I've views on a lot of this (including the late-to-the-game updates or massaging the message) but all that can't be on one person—those have been widespread US/European response issues. However, if someone helped protect the vaccine approval process, I'm voting yes on the statue.

(Not saying we shouldn't talk about the other things. Those weren't really trade-offs but broader problems with the Western response. But for Dr. Fauici in particular, the question I think is different because of the counterfactual: he's not there and then what?).
