Something to worry about (trial showing drop in efficacy) Waiting for full paper. (Small sample, don't know about severe disease, which is key). Today we also learned Pfizer looks to be effective against that variant. We're gonna need boosters. (Novavax already working on one).https://twitter.com/JBDavis2/status/1354942205291585546 …

Thread from a virologist with details: we need to wait for the actual paper. 90% efficacy from one more vaccine (THAT CAN BE STORED IN A REGULAR FRIDGE) is great news; SA variant drop is worrying; efficacy against severe disease could still be pretty high.https://twitter.com/florian_krammer/status/1354948645561495555 …

More. There's a double/triple reality here. We have excellent vaccines and having more is great. Variants are emerging and we'll eventually have to do boosters, and the more we use this year to vaccinate as many people as possible, the better the future.https://twitter.com/nataliexdean/status/1354943792990859267 …

Many billions of vaccines being produced, but not 12 bn or so presumably (to cover the 16+ population). Will it take 2 years to cover everyone?

Vacxines need to go everywhere, to reduce the rate of mutations, right? If millions are infected, anywhere, new strains will continue to emerge. Are you concerned about the global North, mostly the G20, getting most vaccine doses, for the foreseeable future?

US/China should provide the funds to vaccinate the world.
