Question re:K/N95 re-use. We need official/authoritative guidance. Use it carefully and let it sit for a few days in a paper bag or a non-airtight box disinfect (don't wash or heat) and keep using it is my unofficial guidance based on this paper. Anyone? https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7724761/ …https://twitter.com/cwarzel/status/1352299319617982465 …

Needless to say this is for general public (!) not any healthcare setting (!) or anyone doing anything high-risk. Your grocery shopping trip mask. Loss of electrostatic charge doesn't seem to drop filtration much, and sanitize hands before putting on/taking off seems enough.

That's a higher standard than what some healthcare workers do even if they are intubating COVID patients daily... (They reuse masks). (Intubation is an aerosol-generating process and only done on very sick patients). That's why I'd like *sensible* advise for the general public.

yes! that’s what i was asking for as well. general public. 8 hrs is a difficult standard for ppl who aren’t wearing them all the time. most of my mask wearing is in 25 min intervals at like the grocery store.

Yeah, there's a tendency to just add precautions because it sounds better but I don't think it makes sense since even ER doctors and nurses haven't been doing the single use thing, and yet HCW infections are really really low (since universal masking in hospitals).

Reuse in hospitals is desperation. Data supporting that reuse is pretty scant.
