Noticing a lot of people burnt out by twitter atm General atmosphere seems much more tense. I guess people are tired and frightened. Makes it a difficult place to have useful conversations. Besides, I'm a paediatrician. I'm not used to this aggression! I prefer bubbles...

I noticed that too. What I'm finding odd is that some of the arguments seem to be between people who have the same view from the perspective of an outside observer

Yes, people who agree on 90% of a topic becoming extremely inflamed on the remaining 10% The few polite and enlightening conversations I can have with people who see things differently to me is just about keeping me going...

For me twitter is about learning from each other and exchanging information but at the moment it’s so toxic. People are so disrespectful and seem to be behaving like this is a game to win forgetting that this is a team sport vs. the pandemic.

Yep. Though I'd quibble with "moderate", perhaps as the term? It's the high drama folks and behaviors around that—it's not strictly a center/moderate vs extremes distinction though I understand exactly what you are saying.

I mean, as someone who studied the social media/public sphere stuff in the Before Times, I know exactly how I could play that game—go on a dunking spree, go viral on purpose etc. The incentive structure is screwed up and harms clear thinking, though.
